Whole Wheat Bread

from Susan Dain

We are fortunate enough to get to eat this bread for our sacrament bread every Sunday because the Dain's have allergies and this way they can partake in the Sacrament.  This is one bread that you want to snag the biggest piece in the tray.  So good.

2 c. warm water
1 T. yeast
1/3 c. oil
1/3 c. honey
Stir in 2 c. whole wheat flour
Add 2 tsp. salt
Stir in 2 more cups whole wheat flour
Dough will be much stickier than most bread dough recipes, so you must stir, not knead this dough. Don't be tempted to add extra flour! Use oil or flour on your hands to shape the dough into a ball (more like a blob!) Place in a clean, oiled bowl and cover to let rise for 45 - 60 minutes. Press down center of dough with oiled or floured hand, and form into a loaf. Place in a greased or non-stick bread pan and cover. Let rise another 45 - 60 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes.
Tastes best hot out of the oven, yet slices best if you let it cool first...Enjoy!
P.S. To make the bread for Sacrament Meeting, I use my bread machine and set the crust control to "light."
Sister Susan Dain
p.s.  You can add gluten if you want the bread to be less dense.
